Abstract
This article presents the main conclusion from two researches which goal was to describe the impact of the community media in the process of building identity and community among inhabitants of two shantytowns in Santiago, Chile. The most important findings of these researches are the gathering space lead by community media and their ability to contribute to democratic development.
