Abstract
En este artículo se presentan los temas complejos que se considerarán en una investigación sobre el patrimonio inmaterial de los ascensores de Valparaíso. Partiendo desde los conceptos fundamentales, patrimonio inmaterial, interpretación patrimonial y los ascensores, se pasa a analizar temas que permiten orientar la investigación cultural en el contexto latinoamericano. Se consideran los procesos de semiosis social, la producción de sentido y la perspectiva intercultural.
